NEUROMUSCULAR THERAPY
Neuromuscular therapy (NMT) is a systematic method of applying pressure to specific myofascial points in order to relieve pain. NMT addresses these four issues to balance the central nervous system and restore optimal muscle length and soft tissue extensibility:
Example: Patients often present with painful shoulders that involve all four of the above issues: trigger points, ischemia, postural distortion, and neural compression. NMT is a terrific way to address involved myofascial areas and decrease neural hyperactivity or compression, increase blood flow, and promote normal muscle length, restoring postural ease and freedom.

Neuromuscular therapy (NMT) is a systematic method of applying pressure to specific myofascial points in order to relieve pain. NMT addresses these four issues to balance the central nervous system and restore optimal muscle length and soft tissue extensibility:
- Trigger Points: Specific points in muscles when activated can refer pain to other parts of the body
- Ischemia: Diminished blood supply to soft tissues which can result in hypersensitivity to touch and reduced metabolics (nutrition and lymphatic drainage)
- Postural Distortion: Slouching and structural misalignment, resulting in possible increased risk of injury to the skeletal, muscular, and neural systems
- Neural Compression/Entrapment: Bone or muscular pressure on a nerve
