CRANIAL SACRAL THERAPY
Cranial Sacral Therapy (CST), popularized by Dr. John Upledger, is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and releasing restrictions throughout the cranial sacral system. This system includes the cranial membranes, the brain, spinal cord, and sacrum. Imbalances or dysfunctions in this system can contribute to neurological, sensory, and motor disorders. Removing these restrictions encourages the cerebrospinal fluid that circulates around the brain and spinal cord, to flow freely, enhancing the body's integral ability to restore tissue balance and optimal health. The craniosacral system has a rhythm that can be felt throughout the body. Craniosacral therapists use gentle palpation to monitor this rhythm and ease stress in the body.
Example: Patients that present with recent or old cranial concussions respond very well to CST. Cranial and spinal compression can contribute to a wide range of dysfunction throughout the body. Lauren has often treated hip and low back pain that can be traced back to a cranial restriction. CST is also effective in the treatment of migraine, TMJ disorders, chronic neck and low back pain.
Lauren has studied cranial work with The Upledger Institute, The Barral Institute, Etienne Peirsman and Hugh Milne.
